Experience

Since 1950, Precision/Master Made Paints, Inc. (PMI) has been in the business of formulating and manufacturing protective coatings, both liquid and powder, for OEM and maintenance customers.

Founder L.W. Yagle attended Purdue University and graduated in 1928 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Though he is no longer with the company, many of his production techniques are still used today.

Under new ownership, since 1989, PMI began directing its technical and financial commitments entirely toward the industrial market. Today, that market continues to be the company’s total emphasis.

The PMI team offers your company more than 160 years experience in the development of exact coatings for specific uses.

Custom Formulation

PMI’s primary business is the formulation of specific coatings to meet the exacting requirements of our customers. Formulas are developed from information gathered at an onsite visit to your company. This determines:

Your specific paint formula is assigned a number in our computer database, facilitating quick reference for formulation of reorders.

Consulting and Service

Although formulating, manufacturing and delivery are central to our business, we take pride in the amount of time we spend with our customers, discussing new techniques and different approaches to coating problems. We maintain a state-of-the-art knowledge by attending national paint shows and training programs offered in coating and polymer science by the Department of Chemistry at the University Of Missouri in Rolla and the University of Southern Mississippi-School of Polymers and High Performance Materials in Hattiesburg.

Our full-time service and technical staff is available at your fingertips through a toll-free phone call.

Testing

PMI utilizes a fully equipped laboratory to test your coating formula to the desired specifications. Whether the conditions are Mek, Rub, Salt Fog, Southern Florida Exposure, or any other hardness and adhesion test. Standard testing for long-term durability is performed in a salt spray machine, other tests include those for adhesion, hardness, ultraviolet effect, impact resistance, gloss, conductivity. etc.

Health and Safety

PMI will work with you to formulate coatings that meet EPA and OSHA regulations. All of our formulas are isocyanate-free, and heavy metals have been eliminated except in a few speciality coatings.

Most recently, PMI is developing and marketing a wide variety of low VOC, little to no HAPS, and waterborne coatings to reduce solvent hazards. Learn more about how PMI is Going Green!
